Norfolk Mortgage Trust was founded in 2006 by Lawyer Jack Porus, Managing Partner of Law firm Glaister Ennor and Stu Smith, an Auckland lender, who wanted to provide their clients with an opportunity to invest in the property market. They set up a property fund that allowed investors to pool their funds and access the benefits of investing in mortgage assets.
The fund management industry underwent restructuring in 2013. In 2016, the Financial Markets Authority issued an MIS license to Norfolk Mortgage Management Limited, the Manager of Norfolk Mortgage Trust.
Norfolk moved out of the law offices, and Glenys Holden was appointed as CEO. With a focus on professional management and diversification, the property fund became a popular choice for investors looking to gain exposure with property-based assets.
